Below are some questions you might have before beginning therapy:

+ How much does therapy cost?

50-minute sessions: $190

Group sessions: $60

+ Do you provide online counseling?

Yes! I utilize a HIPAA compliant, secure platform for online counseling if you are in California or Texas. I can provide the same quality of service from the comfort of your home, your office or wherever you are.

+ How do I Know if I need counseling or therapy?

If you feel like you've read all the books, Googled every option and you still feel stuck. Therapy is a great way to work on anxiety, your marriage or insomnia problems.

+ How Long is a therapy session?

The very first therapy session is 60 minutes. It’s important that I get to really know you so that we can both come up with clear goals and a clear plan of action to get you the results you want. After that initial session, subsequent sessions are 50 minutes.

+ How long do I have to be in therapy?

Because I do not provide one size fits all therapy or counseling, it really all depends on how fast you move towards meeting your goals. We typically stop therapy once you start to feel better. If you are coming to me specifically for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, then we will work together for 5 to 7 sessions.

+ Will my insurance pay for therapy?

If you have a HMO plan you won’t get reimbursed for working with me. If you have a PPO plan, ask your insurance company if you have any 'Out of network' mental health benefits. If you do, ask them how much they reimburse.

+ Do you have a sliding scale?

I do not have sliding scale fees available at this time. You may also take a look on https://openpathcollective.org to see if they can meet your needs. Please note I am not an affiliate of Open Path.

+ How do I schedule a therapy appointment with you?

I ask that every new client schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation with me so that we can both decide if we are a great fit [(Click to request your free 15-min consultation call)]. It’s important to me that I only take on clients whom I am confident that I can help. If we both mutually decide that we are not a great fit, I will refer you out to other mental health professionals whom I trust.

+ DO you have evening and weekend appointments?

No. My office hours are weekdays from 9am CST till 330pm CST.

+ Is Therapy Confidential?

In the state of California, therapy is confidential. However there are some situations in which I have to make a report: Child abuse. Dependent adult abuse. Elder abuse. If you are a danger to yourself or others.

About Insurance

Should you choose to bill your insurance, please note the following:

1) Insurance companies sometimes require that the therapist share your confidential information with them. Your information doesn't always stay with me.

2) Insurance companies require that a you be diagnosed with a mental health disorder to cover the cost of service. This becomes part of your permanent record.

3) Insurance companies determine how many sessions are covered, which means the insurance company - not you or I- is in charge of your treatment.
