Grounding is a skill that could help you temporarily detach from emotional pain, overwhelm and help bring your mind back down to earth when the world feels too stressful. Grounding also helps with impulsive behaviors.

When doing a grounding exercise, you can keep your eyes open. The goal isn’t to run away from the event, grounding simply gives you time to wind down before you respond.
